Waterproofing Products

We use a number of quality products as part of our waterproofing work from suppliers Viking Roofspec and Newton Systems. Read more about their products below:

VIKING TPO

Viking Enviroclad offers absolute watertight integrity for low-slow roofs. It is a TPO (thermoplastic polyolefin) waterproofing membrane, rendering all the necessary attributes of a World-class system, from waterproofing to aesthetic and environmental elements.

Viking Enviroclad has been a proven performer. It has been tried and tested both internationally and locally, having been installed on thousands of buildings and homes across New Zealand and the Pacific Islands since 2007.

Viking Enviroclad is not just a membrane, it is a ‘system’. It is not complete without its compatible adhesives, sealants and proprietary weldable accessories; all international lab-tested, proven and supplied by the one manufacturer in the USA.

Does your roof have an air conditioning unit, tricky corners or pipe penetrations? These are the areas most prone to potential leaks if not managed properly. Viking Enviroclad’s heat-weldable accessories have been developed to ensure water tightness and external corner flashings, to self-sealing pourable pockets to create a watertight finish around penetrations.

VIKING Torch-On

Viking Roofspec has partnered with Italian supplier General Membrane to offer three fit-for-climate BRANZ-appraised torch-on solutions. Specialising in modified bitumen technology, General Membrane provides Viking Roofspec with an exclusive and code-compliant plasticised (APP), rubberised (SBS), and hybrid (APAO) systems.

Viking Torch-on Phoenix Super APAO is CodeMark and BBA (British Board of Agreement) certified. BBA is one of the World’s highest accreditations for a construction product.

Product benefits include:

  • Formulated to suit a wide range of climatic conditions
  • Water potability certified (Phoenix Super APAO only)
  • Installed only by Viking Licenced Applicators
  • UV resistant
  • Thermal ageing resistance
  • Dimensional stability
  • Overlay option
  • 20-year product warranty (25-years for Phoenix Super)
  • BRANZ Appraised (Appraisal No. 948)
  • CodeMark Certified (Certificate No. 30092)

VIKING Silcoat

Viking Silcoat is a liquid-applied membrane system that can be applied to virtually any existing roof surface to extend its life.

Viking Silcoat is a ‘repair-and-maintenance’ product. It is a great option for a building owner looking to extend the water-tightness of a building for a few more years without over-capitalising; e.g.replacing its roof. SilCoat is also an excellent option when there are so many roof preparations that waterproofing with a sheet membrane would be impractical.

Product benefits include:

  • Remedial waterproofing solution
  • Seamless membrane
  • UV resistant
  • Tolerates water pooling
  • Excellent resistance to mould and mildew
  • Colour options – grey and white
  • Installed only by a Viking Approved Applicator
  • 5-year product warranty

Newton System 500

Newton system 500 internally applied waterproofing system comprises a number of high quality flexible cavity drain waterproofing membranes and Newton drainage and pumping systems. Depending on the variant, Newton system 500 is suitable for the waterproofing of earth retained walls, vaulted soffits and floors and is uaranteed against deterioration for 50 years, with a life expectancy of the design life of the building (DIN 9001:2000) and is supported by BBA Certification Number 94/3010.

Newton system 500 membranes are inert and, therefore, non-polluting to drinking water, highly resistant to water, alkali’s, saline solutions and organic acids, and not affected by minerals and hydro-carbons. They are also impervious to root penetration, is rot-proof, and resistant to bacteria, fungi and other small organisms.

Within the range Newton 508 eco Floor exhibits high compressive loading stability, with 508R providing protection when used in earth retaining scenarios for those substrates contaminated by carbon deposits, salts, fertilizers etc, and can also offer protection in high Radon and Methane gas locations.

The installation of system 500 is gaining increasing popularity over the more conventional methods of “tanking” because it does not seek to hold back water pressure. Water ingress is controlled and managed by the depressurization spaces created by the system and when designed correctly system 500 is the safest and quickest method of waterproofing available with minimal preparation required.

Newton Hydrobond

The Newton System Hydrobond (product) is an externally applied high performance, self-healing, composite sheet membrane, available in two variants; both membranes have a hydrophilic polymer coating sealed and constrained between a layer of waterproof LDPE to the outer face and a polypropylene locking fleece to the inner face. Newton 403 HydroBond-GB however, also includes a further layer of aluminium to provide higher resistance to radon, carbon dioxide and hydrocarbon gases.

When fitted above the raft support or to wall formwork, the membrane locking fleece is fully encapsulated into the newly placed concrete, becoming fully-engaged and preventing water tracking. If the waterproof LDPE layer is punctured, the exposed hydrophilic coating expands, preventing water ingress, effectively sealing small holes that may be accidentally formed during fixing of the reinforcing steel or the pouring and compaction of the concrete.

Suitable for all below ground and earth-retained structures from domestic basements to the largest civil engineering projects.
